Let me translate from the Japanese: "this turned out to be a load of expensive hype"
Kill the Friction in 2022!

Agree about the friction part. I've written about it myself several times during the past 10+ years. During this period, Fintechs / Neobanks relied on superior UX to disrupt traditional banks. 10 years later, they haven't killed a single bank, some of them have gotten disrupted themselves, and banks celebrated one of their most profitable years in history in 2021. So, I disagree about the battleground part. To me, it seems obvious that banks get something about the banking business that pundits preaching to them don't.
Citi to sack unvaccinated staff at the end of the month

I would imagine Citi has done a tremendous amount of research on this issue and how it impacts their ability to perform. The reality is that disability rates, death rates, healthcare expenses, days off the job are all higher for people who are not vaccinated. When companies consider bottom line issues as well as what will make the most sense for the health, safety, and security for the workplace, a vaccination requirement makes sense. The alternative is to increase the amount of healthcare premium contributions for those unvaccinated, figure out how to allow unvaccinated folks to work from home, and other work arounds. I would also suspect that companies have to be concerned about their liability exposure.
